Valentines Day #2

If you have visited before, you may have noticed that this year, we (as in me, Alfie and Miss Ellie - so technically, just me) decided to make Jay his Valentine's Day present.  It was about time an effort was made to do something as it often just passes us by - which is fine (the commercialism for V.D. bugs me immensely) but I felt it would be nice to let Jay know specifically what we like/luuurrrvveee about him!!!!  A lot has happened this year, with much of the attention on the Ericksons leaning more towards Alfie and I.........

To be honest, this was easy for me to do and I quickly thought of the different reasons each day.  From time to time we tend to put each other on the spot as far as 'expressing ourselves' goes, so although this was a bit of a novelty, I would hope that Jay already knew some of these reasons.

And as for me?  Well, to be fair...... I didn't do too badly!!!!!

#PhotoOfTheWeek

There are moments these days when I notice something that stops me in my tracks.
I stop..... I stare..... I smile...... and shake my head in a kind of silent unbelief way..... simply because I am still amazed that we have a little boy that is changing our lives.
This was a funny moment this week!
Needless to say, I couldn't even remember doing this and neither could Jay!

The Nursery

This was always going to be the most exciting part of preparing for Alfie's arrival.....

If you know me well, you will know that I only need the slightest excuse for re-decorating a room in our house!  I had the theme in mind for as many years as I care to remember and decided on a neutral and pale polka-dot scheme, knowing that in the event of us having a boy, my world would soon be filled with colours resembling anything from football teams to Lightening McQueen!  On reflection, that was a good decision!

When my sister Bethany was a little girl I would often read a book entitled, 'Guess How Much I Love You'.  If you are familiar with it, you will know that it's all about two hares that lovingly attempt to 'out-do' the other, in their love for each other.
It is beautifully illustrated and was always the perfect choice given the memories already cemented by the story and the less familiar theme meant it would be slightly more unique than anything I'd seen in the shops.  The whole process was a labour of love from each stitch that my mum sewed in the fabric to each brush stroke that our friend, Natalie painted on the wall......

Hopefully these pictures give it some justice!

Valentines Day #1

So, I thought I'd try something a bit different this year for Valentine's Day!
We don't really bother too much with this, but with Alfie here for the first time, I thought it would be great to tell Jay just how much we love him.  And of course, I don't make any apologies for this, but there was no way I was missing Miss Ellie out!  ;)
A 'post-it' a day from each of us, for the first 14 days of February, telling Jay different reasons why we love him!!!

Happy Day of Love everyone!!!!!
