Wanderlust

These pictures tell two different stories.....
And the reason for that?

Well, because you tend to make them up when someone is 15 months old and can't really speak for themselves!!!

Jay believes firmly that Alfie is showing us where we should go on our next holiday together....

Personally though, I think he's curious as to what those tiny little flags feel like and how good (or bad) they would taste in his mouth....

Who knows??

Maybe we're both right!!!

The Landing

Who'd have thought it?
The landing in our home upstairs was the hub of activity this morning.
No toys.......

....just a stair gate, a cardboard book, Nana Newberry's tray and a Springer Spaniel........ and Alfie was satisfied for a little over an hour.

That kid had so much fun!!!

Let it Snow!

After the intense speculation of the last few days - the constant stream of weather reports and the excitement seen on the faces of the thirty six and seven year olds I teach in school, the heavy snowfall finally descended on our sleeping village..... and within a matter of hours, rooftops, gardens and roads were covered in a blanket of the softest looking snow.
It was beautiful......

..... but all I could think of was my lovely little Alfie, and what his face would look like the moment he saw the scene that I was now looking at.  He was staying the night at his grandparents house, ready to begin his adventures with my Dad, who looks after him every Friday while I'm at school.  But school was closed today and we were out of the door at 8 o'clock, ready to go and fetch him so we could share the day together.
And there he was......

With his face pressed to the window and, somewhat predictably, clutching a toy car, he was looking out to us with the biggest smile on his face, like we were the best thing he had ever seen......
He really knows how to melt my heart right there on the spot!!  Whatever the day now held, nothing was going to beat those few precious seconds.

~ ~ SEAL PARK ~ ~

The park was really pretty and it paid off getting there before 9am as we had the whole place to ourselves.  I used to come here when I was younger.  Before the newer trees were planted there was a hill with a steady slope that was perfect for sledging if you were the more cautious type. Braver people headed off to larger, steeper hills close by, but I always loved it here.  And Alfie was happy enough to simply be pulled gently in his little sledge - or at least he did until he toppled slightly and tipped face first into the snow!

There was no convincing him after that and from then on he was adamant that he wasn't going to leave our arms.
And who were we to complain ;)

A quick trip to Nana and Grampy Erickson's to build a snowman, rounded off our morning and the rest of the day was spent warming ourselves up back at home, radiators on full blast!
As fun as it was, I'm glad these days are rare opportunities.  I'm not very good at being constantly cold!

Thanks for more precious memories Alfie Jay.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!!

The Green Monster

"New Year - New You"
That's the message I've heard over the last couple of weeks.
So why not jump on the train and join in!!!!!

So, feeling slightly sleepy and blurry eyed, Alfie and I began our one and only New Year's Resolution together on a cold, dark Monday morning........

To eat better!

So for Alfie that means:-
Being brave and excited when trying new food

And for me that means:-
Cooking more of my own food and being a bit (but hopefully a lot!) more creative at meal times

The best thing I could think of to kick start our new goal was to make a strange looking smoothie called 'The Green Monster' - a delicious green concoction of milk, bananas, syrup and spinach!

Yum...
(Have I won you over yet???)

Well, as strange as it looks and sounds....
 We both agreed....
It was just....
SCRUMDIDDLEYUMPTIOUS!!!
We drank it all!!
And you never know.
The person taking these photos (yes, you Daddy!)
may well join in soon!!!!

xoxo
