Postcard from Manchester

Hard Rock Cafe - Manchester, UK

Checking out the stamps in his passport.
On the plane, Canada-bound.
Making new friends.
After months of anticipation we were finally looking forward to our next road trip - this time, enjoying the company of our favourite little man.  Our adventure really started when we arrived in Manchester the night before so that we could visit the Hard Rock Cafe.  Wherever we are in the world, we try to visit as many HRC's as we can.  During this trip we are hoping to visit six!!! We'll mark each visit by buying a logo pin which we will place with the ones we already have in our study at home - a fun and novel way for us to appreciate the travels we have taken together since getting married almost thirteen years ago.  We didn't know how Alfie was going to be on the first big part of our journey...... the plane flight!  These days, all he ever wants to do is use those little legs of his to run at every opportunity.  Nothing seems to give him more happiness than when he is stretching his arms up behind him as he whizzes around, mostly trying to escape whoever is trying to stop him running too far away.  Thankfully, we had some help in the form of two sweet girls who seemed to never grow tired of pulling faces, smiling and blowing paper windmills, in an effort to keep Alfie happy.  We had a few grizzly moments when the frustration of staying in a seat for seven and a half hours became too much for a toddler, but we still thought he was amazing!  We can't wait to share this road trip with Alfie.  Whilst we know that he won't remember these memories for himself, we hope that he will look back at this blog sometime in his future and know how much we loved seeing this beautiful world through his eyes.

Sleeping on the plane.
