Father's Day 2013

Father's Day!!!!

Alfie woke up a little past seven this morning and was his usual smiling self.  He brought Jay's card into the bedroom himself and gave it to his daddy, looking completely proud of himself.  After church it was Alfie's nap time and he decided to sleep for a whopping three and a half hours!!!

After quickly having tea, we rushed out to Kidzone at church where Alfie and Jay tried out their presents.... matching super-hero capes.  The long nap he'd had in the afternoon meant that we squeezed out a few extra hours of happiness from him - and that little man of ours played and played and played.

Alfie looks at his daddy in an indescribable way... a look of complete adoration.  And Jay in return looks back at him in the same way.
Alfie and his daddy.
Two peas in a pod.
My two superheroes.......
Wow!  I look at these two and know that I will never find the words that can completely convey the privilege I have of calling these two boys, mine.

Happy Fathers Day to the most caring, fun-filled, loyal and loving daddy that I get to spend my life with.

Happy Father's Day to my own wonderful Dad and Dad-in-law.

Happy Father's Day to all the other amazing daddies out there.

-and last but not least-

Happy Father's Day to the daddies who are still waiting for their own bundle of miracles to arrive into this world.  We know how this day may feel for you.  Stay strong....... we love you!

Month of LOVE - Part 2

We took a trip 'Up North' for half-term break with some good friends of ours.
And it was Valentines Day when we were there.
What better way to share the love, than to do so - one paper heart at a time.

A BIG thank you must be mentioned to our lovely friend Hannah, who patiently stamped out over a hundred hearts the evening before.  It meant I had many, many hearts to bring back home for future use!!

Expect to see one lying around somewhere in a town near you!!

Newberry Gathering 2012

We hear so much about Christmas being a time that brings people together.
For me, it's one of the best bits - and something, which I hope Alfie will also grow to appreciate....
After sadly missing the Erickson 'get together' on Boxing Day there was determination all round to get ourselves fit and healthy for the Newberry Gathering.  And whilst neither of us were feeling particularly fit or healthy, we got ourselves there........ and Alfie loved it!!
With most of our family managing to make it, it was the perfect way for us to round off an incredible year.  I love my family....... and as my Uncle poignantly reminded us [[[cue a few tears .... every .... time ....]]], our much-loved/much-missed/always-remembered grandparents loved nothing more than family get togethers....... and they always made sure we had one at Christmas!  There was every reason to keep our family tradition going despite the huge gap we often feel by their absence.  Somehow, being all together helps us in some small way to honour their legacy.

Oh boy, I miss them......

I miss them seeing things like this......

.... and this....

....and this.....

.....and of course, this.....

....and especially this......

(..... though I'm sure Nan would notice the lack of four legged friends in this picture!!)

Yes...... we miss them dearly.
But the truth in the message of Christmas gently whispers to our hearts, reminding us that we will one day be re-united with them in a most glorious place.   For now........ we have our precious memories.
We adored them then and we cling on to our precious memories now.
May each and everyone of you find your peace this Christmastime.......
